g4g Day@SF Bay Area 2016
On August 13, 2016, I had the opportunity to attend and observe young girls from all around the greater Bay Area, including as far as Sacramento, attend g4g Day@SF Bay Area in Richmond, California. Goa Sudharop, a USA based, non-profit Goan diaspora organization partnered with greenlight for girls and assisted with a free event for 100 girls ages 10-15 to encourage them to study science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) by emphasizing the link between science and fun. greenlight for girls is based in Belgium (http://greenlightforgirls.org/ ) and its mission is to inspire girls of all ages and backgrounds to pursue STEM subjects by introducing them to the world of science in fun and exciting ways.
The girls attending this event got an opportunity to attend various workshops such as science and robotics and got a chance to extract actual DNA in the science workshop. As a Business and Professional Women (BPW) member I was proud of the level of enthusiasm these girls demonstrated and hope to see BPW International pursue such partnership opportunities.
