The pandemic has caused a loss of jobs and left many people without an income to provide for themselves and their families. To help this grave situation, on April 11, 2021, Goa Sudharop hosted their first pop-up Posro (market) at Arjun Tree Structures building (Margao) under the name "Goenakaracho Posro".
Covid 19 protocols were maintained to ensure the safety of every individual. The market had vendors selling local products and organic/fresh produce. Early in the pandemic in 2020, Goa Sudharop had helped some women set-up their home-based catering businesses. These women were invited to this event to serve Goan delicacies along with mocktails made from local seasonal fruit. Our talented youth added a nice touch by playing Konkani music during the event. The buyers got an opportunity to interact with the the sellers and connect with them for future business. There were 36 tables set up and it is reported that some vendors earned more in 4 hours than they do in an entire month. The pop up market raised a total of approximately Rupees 3 lakhs for the sellers in 4 hours !! Sales have been ongoing and the vendors have been offered the opportunity to stock their goods at Goa Sudharop's POSRO market (shop) in Margao to continue to earn a living. Thanks to the generous buyers who attended this event and to Arjun Tree Structures who provided the venue free of cost. Many hours of planning and hard work were put in by our Goa Sudharop volunteers. They are encouraged by this success are looking forward to organizing the next Goenkaracho Posro in North Goa.
